The best house in Jakarta / Rumah terbaik di Jakarta

What if you could always get the best table in the house?

I was just listening to Tim Ferriss and Adam Robinson talking about how your attitude can change everything – specifically, seeking to delight other people, wherever you are. They shared an anecdote about how an interaction with a waiter at a fully booked restaurant resulted in their being seated at the best table in the house when they didn’t even have a reservation.

Whether or not it actually was the best table in the house, they clearly had a great time, and it got me thinking: wherever you are, the best table in the house is always the one you are sitting at with your friends.

This new angle on an old idea reminded me a bit of this classic song by Koes Plus, (“Hati senang walaupun tak punya uang, ooh!” / “My heart is happy even though I have no money, ooh!” – it sounds better in Indonesian!)  as true and as false as it is.

On this road, down my gang (alleyway). Look! I live in the best house in Jakarta.

Saya barusan mendengarkan The Tim Ferris show episode #219, wawancara dengan Adam Robinson.
